10 day/9 night Grand Canyon/Great American West Tour Tuesday August 18-Thursday August 27 $4259 per person (double occupancy), $4059 per person (triple occupancy), $3919 per person (quad occupancy) $5369 (single occupancy) includes roundtrip airfare, transportation from Greencastle, Hagerstown and Frederick to BWI, nine nights lodging. 12 Meals, Tour of Phoenix and Scottsdale, visit to Sedona, Grand Canyon National Park, Navajo and Hopi Trading Post, guided Jeep tour Monument Valley, Lake Powell, boat cruise through Antelope Canyon, visit to Kamab, (known a sLittle Hollywood), Zion National Park, private tram tour of of Zion Park, free time in Las Vegas, your own, local guide, taxes, meal gratuities, and baggage handling.$200 per person deposit with balance due by July 1.

Arrangements can be made from anywhere to participate in this tour.

Day 1 – Tuesday, August 18, 2020

                                                Fly from Baltimore (BWI) to Phoenix (PHX).

                                                Arrive Phoenix airport. Meet our local representative in the baggage claim area and be escorted to the awaiting motorcoach.

                                                Check-in:  DoubleTree Suites

                                                Enjoy beautiful, newly renovated two room suites within walking distance of boutique shopping and dining. Local golf courses and tennis courts are a short drive away. The hotel has a bar/lounge, swimming pool, and fitness center.

                                                Dinner on own this evening.


Day 2 – Wednesday, August 19, 2020

                                                Breakfast included at hotel.

                                                Drive through Scottsdale and along Camelback Mountain on your morning sightseeing tour. Continue to the artist colony of Sedona, surrounded by towering red rock formations. You have free time in Sedona to explore galleries, shops and restaurants (lunch on own). Continue through scenic Oak Creek Canyon.

                                                Arrive at Williams and check-in:                                                                              Grand Canyon Railway Hotel

                                                Experience the luxury of a bygone era at the newly refurbished Grand Canyon Railway Hotel. The hotel is right next door to the train depot and just a block away from downtown Williams and historic Route 66.

Day 3 – Thursday, August 20, 2020

                                                Drop bags at: Maswik North Lodge

                                                Located just ¼ mile from the canyon’s edge, the Maswik Lodge at the Grand Canyon is stunningly situated over several acres of ponderosa pine forest. Featuring spacious non-smoking rooms, a transportation / activity desk, and a cafeteria and sports bar, it’s also the ideal place to enjoy gorgeous sunsets and sunrises at the canyon.

                                                Your lodge is inside the Grand Canyon National Park near the South Rim. A free shuttle bus system operates within the park, offering free transport between all lodges, restaurants, the West Rim drive, Yavapai geology museum, and the Park Visitor Center. Elevation at the South Rim averages 7,000 feet.

                                                Remainder of day to explore the breathtaking beauty of the Grand Canyon, one of the seven natural wonders of the world. Almost 280 miles long, the Grand Canyon varies in width from one to eighteen miles, with the Colorado River winding far below. Morning orientation drive of the Grand Canyon. Visit Desert View Lookout. The rest of your day is at leisure to enjoy Grand Canyon National Park.  Relax and enjoy Grand Canyon vistas, or attend a park ranger talk. Free shuttles take you to the many lookout points on the West Rim. Visit historic Grand Canyon Park buildings such as Hopi House and Lookout Studio.  Hike deep into the canyon on Bright Angel Trail, or enjoy less rigorous activities offered along the rim trails, including bike rentals. Best of all, you will enjoy an opportunity to see a Grand Canyon sunset and/or sunrise.

                                                Return to lodge to check-in.

Day 4 – Friday, August 21, 2020

                                                Breakfast included at hotel.

                                                Drive along the scenic East Rim of the Grand Canyon. Then, visit a Navajo and Hopi Trading Post. Here, you will find a large selection of high-quality Hopi Kachina dolls and fine Native American jewelry and handicrafts. Next, drive through the Hopi Indian Nation to the Navajo Indian Nation. Enjoy a Navajo guided jeep tour of the restricted backcountry of Monument Valley, a beautiful, pristine area of buttes and arches. John Ford, the filmmaker, discovered the rugged beauty of Monument Valley in the 1930’s. Western classics, such as “Stagecoach,” “The Searchers,” and “Once Upon a Time in the West” were filmed in Monument Valley with Hollywood legends, such as Maureen O’Hara, John Wayne, Henry Fonda, and James Stewart.

                                                Then, to Lake Powell. Check-in: Lake Powell Resort

                                                The resort is located on the shores of Lake Powell at Wahweap Marina, about 5 miles from the town of Page, Arizona and 2 miles from Glen Canyon dam.  The modern lodges at Lake Powell Resort all have two queen beds.  Lake Powell Resort has two pools, a jacuzzi, a small beach on the lake shore, 2 restaurants, and a bar.

                                                Dinner included this evening in the Rainbow Room.


Day 5 – Saturday, August 22, 2020

                                                Breakfast included in your resort’s famous Rainbow Room with 180 degree sweeping views of Lake Powell.

                                                This morning, enjoy a scenic boat cruise through Lake Powell’s Antelope Canyon, lined with rich red sandstone walls. The rest of the day is at leisure to enjoy Lake Powell Resort.

                                                Dinner on own this evening.


Day 6 – Sunday, August 23, 2020

                                                Enjoy breakfast in the Rainbow Room.

                                                Drive to Kanab, known as Little Hollywood. Over 100 western movies and TV shows were filmed here including “Gunsmoke,” “The Lone Ranger,” “Wagon Train,” and “How the West Was Won”.  Next, visit Bryce Canyon. See the Bryce “Hoodoos,” fantastic red, orange, and pink limestone spirals. Stop at Bryce Point and Sunrise Point, overlooking the stunning Bryce Amphitheater.

                                                Continue to Zion National Park. Check-in: Zion Park Lodge

                                                This is the only lodging located inside Zion National Park. The lodge is situated in the center of the valley floor and surrounded by spectacular 2,000 foot sandstone canyon walls. The exterior of the lodge has been restored to its original 1920's classic appearance. Zion Park offers a diverse selection of picturesque trails ranging from short, easy jaunts to strenuous adventures. Some of the trails begin immediately outside the lodge.

                                                Stroll the beautiful grounds of your lodge, ideally situated in the center of the valley floor. Marvel at the cliffs towering above.

Day 7 – Monday, August 24, 2020

                                                Breakfast included at hotel.

                                                This morning, enjoy a private tram tour of Zion Park. See a wonderland of rock monoliths. Zion features stunning scenery found nowhere else. Zion is a geological showplace with sandstone cliffs among the highest in the world. Early settlers were so inspired by Zion’s beauty that they bestowed exalted names on the park’s natural features. See East Temple, the Court of the Patriarchs and the Great White Throne.

                                                Afternoon at leisure to relax in your magnificent setting or pursue park activities. You may wish to take the free Zion Canyon shuttle or hike the Park’s scenic walking trails near your lodge.

Day 8 – Tuesday, August 25, 2020

                                                Breakfast included at hotel.

                                                Depart Zion Park for Las Vegas, NV

                                                Arrive Las Vegas. Check-in: hotel (on the strip)

                                                Free evening to enjoy Las Vegas (dinner on own).


Day 9 – Wednesday, August 26, 2020
