Day 2 – Monday, October 28, 2024

6:00 a.m. –   9:00 a.m. Hot breakfast included at hotel.

9:00 a.m.           Depart for Billy Graham Library (14 miles).

9:30 a.m.           Visit The Billy Graham Library, an innovative and interactive facility that chronicles the life, ministry and message of Billy Graham. You will experience Exhibits, Multimedia Displays and Films in the midst of a re-created dairy farm Environment. The Family Friendly Complex also includes the Original Graham Family Homestead (lunch vouchers included).

12:30 p.m.          Depart Charlotte for Savannah, GA

3:00 p.m. Arrive Savannah. Meet our local representative and check-in:  Springhill Suites Historic District 150 Montgomery Street

                Free time to freshen up at hotel or wander down to River Street.

6:00 p.m.          Dinner included at Pirate’s House.

Day 3 – Tuesday, October 29, 2024

                Hot breakfast included at hotel.

8:30 a.m.           Depart Savannah for Jekyll Island

                St. Simons Island tour, including stop at Fort Fredericka.

                Lunch on own and free time for shopping in St. Simons Pier Village.

2:30 p.m.          Depart for Jekyll Island.

3:30 p.m.          Arrive in historic district. Tram tour of Jekyll Island historic district (approximately one hour).

                At the turn of the century, tycoons, politicians, and socialites flocked to Jekyll Island to revel in their own luxury and America's burgeoning wealth. The Jekyll Island Club was described in the February 1904 issue of Munsey's Magazine as “the richest, the most exclusive, the most inaccessible club in the world.” Its impressive members included such luminaries as J.P. Morgan, William Rockefeller, Vincent Astor, Joseph Pulitzer, William K. Vanderbilt and other recognizable names, on the roster were Macy, Goodyear, and Gould.

                Between 1888 and 1928 these wealthy northern families built their winter homes, or “cottages” as they were called, designed to house entire families with staff. Hardly cottages, they exemplified Victorian tastes in architecture. Two of these have been restored and are part of the Jekyll Island Club's historic accommodations.

5:45 p.m.          Dinner included at Skipper’s.

                Return to Savannah.

Day 4 – Wednesday, October 30, 2024

                Hot breakfast included at hotel.

                Meet your guide in the lobby for an exciting day in Savannah – Georgia’s first city!

9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Informative tour of historic Savannah.

11:00 a.m. –   1:00 p.m. Lunch on own and free time for shopping on River Street.

1:00 p.m. –   4:00 p.m. Low Country Tour, to include Tybee Island, Fort Pulaski, and a stop at Byrd Cookie Company.

4:00 p.m.          Return to hotel to freshen up.

4:30 p.m.          Depart for Lady & Sons Restaurant.

5:00 p.m.          Dinner included at Paula Deen’s Lady & Sons Restaurant.

8:00 p.m.          SHOW: at the historic Savannah Theatre.

Day 5 – Thursday, October 31, 2024

                Hot breakfast included at hotel.

9:00 a.m.           Depart Savannah for Mount Airy, NC (349 miles).

4:30 p.m.          Arrive Mount Airy. Check-in:Hampton Inn 2029 Rockford Street

6:00 p.m.          Dinner included at Golden Corral, to include some time with Brack Llewellyn, a local storyteller in the Mount Airy area.

Day 6 – Friday, November 1, 2024

6:00 a.m. –   8:30 a.m. Deluxe continental breakfast included at hotel.

8:15 a.m.           Depart to pick up guide for tour of Mount Airy.

8:30 a.m.           Brief tour of Mount Airy (the original Mayberry).

10:30 a.m.          Admission included to the Andy Griffith Museum.
